The City of Pittsburg, California, has launched a new webpage for the AVAIO Perseus Data Center project within the Pittsburg Technology Park, aiming to clarify details and address resident concerns following prior pushback. The project, approved 5-0 by the City Council in November 2024, is intended to support advanced technology infrastructure and create long-term economic development opportunities for the city.

The webpage provides comprehensive information and addresses frequently asked questions. It details that the data center, located at the former Delta View Golf Course, will be situated over 400 feet from the nearest residence, incorporate extensive noise mitigation, and install scrubbers on all backup generators. An environmental impact report, conducted under the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA), concluded that all potential impacts would be reduced to a less than significant level with incorporated mitigations.

Regarding utilities, the data center will be air-cooled, with a minimal and optional precooling system utilizing recycled water from Delta Diablo, which has significant excess capacity. The project's water demand is estimated to be less than 1% of Delta Diablo’s current recycled water output. Energy will be supplied by the Pittsburg Power Company, ensuring that local residents' PG&E rates will not be affected, and the developer, AVAIO, will fund all required infrastructure upgrades. The city also emphasized its commitment to public reporting, transparency, and collaboration with multiple agencies on emergency planning and fire safety protocols.
