Fort Worth residents fight proposed $1.1B data center over noise and water concerns
Fort Worth residents are actively opposing a proposed $1.1 billion data center due to concerns over water usage, noise pollution, and strain on the electrical grid. The Fort Worth City Council heard a presentation on the project and previously delayed a related tax abatement. A final decision on the data center proposal is still pending.
The Fort Worth City Council recently held a 40-slide presentation outlining a proposed $1.1 billion data center project slated for southwest Tarrant County. The proposal has been met with significant opposition from community members.
Residents have formed a coalition against the data center, voicing strong concerns about potential depletion of water resources, noise pollution, and strain on the local electrical grid. These concerns previously led council members to delay a proposed tax abatement for the project earlier this year.
Council member Michael Crane also compiled a letter detailing his own concerns regarding the development. While the presentation was thorough, no final decision on the data center is expected immediately, as council members will use the information to determine their next steps.
