Companies tied to developer Jim Marzolino have proposed three new power plants in Dickson City, Pennsylvania, following an application for a power plant and data center in Archbald. These new power plant proposals are linked to previous data center development plans in Dickson City and are facing local opposition, particularly from Lackawanna County Commissioner Bill Gaughan. Additionally, one of Marzolino's firms is challenging a recent Dickson City zoning amendment regulating data centers in county court.

Companies affiliated with local data center developer Jim Marzolino have submitted three new zoning applications to Dickson City, Pennsylvania, for power generation facilities on Bell Mountain. These applications, filed by Dickson City Power One LLC, Dickson City Power Two LLC, and Dickson City Power Three LLC, follow an earlier application for a 400-megawatt power plant and a 620,000-square-foot data center in nearby Archbald. The proposed Dickson City power plants, spanning over a mile of Bell Mountain, require special exceptions in the residential open space zoning district. The Dickson City Zoning Hearing Board is scheduled to hear these applications on May 13. Meanwhile, Archbald borough council has scheduled a conditional use hearing for Marzolino's Archbald power plant on April 27. Separately, Dickson City Development LLC, another firm linked to Marzolino, is challenging Dickson City's February zoning amendment regulating data centers in county court. The company, which had proposed data centers in Dickson City in November, argues the ordinance is exclusionary to data centers and seeks to have it annulled. Lackawanna County Commissioner Bill Gaughan has vocally opposed the new power plant proposals and data center developments, questioning their community benefit and calling for continued resistance from local residents.
