The West Conshohocken council voted six to zero, with one abstention from member Richard Marr, to adopt a new ordinance specifically addressing data centers. The drafting of this ordinance predates a recommended data center ordinance jointly developed by the planning commissions of Montgomery and Chester counties.

Under the newly adopted ordinance, data centers are permitted by conditional use within the borough's heavy industrial zoning district. This district encompasses the area along Balligomingo Road, extending to the border with Upper Merion and the Schuylkill River. Currently, there are no specific proposals for data center developments within West Conshohocken.
