Gov: Hood County Commissioners Court, Red Oak City Council

Hood County commissioners voted twice to reject plans for a proposed 2,000-acre data center campus near Dinosaur Valley State Park. The developer offered concessions, including reducing the project's size and using a closed-loop cooling system to reduce water consumption, but opponents continued to question the project's water and power sources and its handling of wastewater runoff. The developer has indicated it may challenge the decision in court.

Separately, the Red Oak City Council approved rezoning for a new data center complex by a 3-1 vote after about an hour of discussion. Dozens of residents spoke against the project, which Ellis County residents said could double Google's existing campus in the area, but the council approved the zoning change.
