Cumberland County, North Carolina, has announced two community input sessions to facilitate public engagement on the development of a proposed data center ordinance. The county aims to provide information on the ordinance creation process, answer resident questions, and collect feedback before a draft ordinance is formally developed.
Attendees at these sessions will be able to visit various discussion stations covering critical aspects of data center development, including water and power usage, noise, air quality, land use and zoning, environmental considerations, and economic impacts. Facilitators will document all community input, which will then be compiled into a summary report for review by the Joint Planning Board and the Board of Commissioners. Officials stressed that no ordinance has been adopted yet and that the collected public input will be integral to shaping the county's regulatory framework. The input sessions are scheduled for August 6th in Stedman and August 11th in Hope Mills.
