The Chesapeake Alliance recently hosted a breakfast at the Chesapeake Convention Center to address common misconceptions about data centers. Leaders, including David Ropp, Chairman of Chesapeake Alliance, emphasized the rising demand for data and the necessity of data centers, while refuting popular beliefs that they are loud, increase utility bills, or harm the environment.

The event aimed to educate residents and political leaders, who have made data centers a "hot topic." A key point of contention has been the placement of these facilities. Lee Demore recalled a proposed data center in Etheridge Lakes last year that did not proceed, citing an unsuitable location and insufficient information provided to residents.

Jeff Merrick of Cox Communications highlighted the value of such discussions, offering an opportunity for the public to learn the pros and cons of data center development. With Chesapeake city officials expressing interest in developing future data center policies, the Chesapeake Alliance is actively working to inform the community about the industry.
