Talk of a potential data center coming to Warwood is drawing new attention to West Virginia House Bill 2014, legislation that could limit how much input local communities have when large projects are proposed.
“A lot of the information I’m receiving is information you’re receiving at the same time because we took away the transparency. We took away the reporting requirements. We took away all those things that could bring questions,” Del. Shawn Fluharty said.
Sen. Laura Wakim Chapman said the certification process required under HB 2014 is designed to address key concerns.
“We have no idea about the environmental impact, we have no idea about disruptions to neighbors, which is all required to be done under the certification process per HB 2014,” Chapman said.
