Committee sends data center moratorium to full Metro Council in Louisville

The ordinance, sponsored by council members Jennifer Chappell, Shamika Parish Wright, and Tammy Hawkins, will now advance to the full Metro Council for a final discussion and vote.

The proposed moratorium, which would last 180 days, was sponsored by council members Jennifer Chappell, Shamika Parish Wright, and Tammy Hawkins.
The committee approved the ordinance with a 7 to 1 vote. One council member expressed opposition, stating, "I just don't see it, so I'm a no," regarding the perceived benefits for tax bases and the lack of problems caused by data centers other than limited human traffic. The ordinance will now proceed to the full Metro Council for a comprehensive discussion and final vote.
