Humans First activists led by chair Amy Kremer ended a five-week, 8,000-mile tour in San Francisco, parking an “AI Data Center Revolt” bus outside Anthropic’s headquarters. The group’s 13-point policy platform calls for greater community control over data center planning, protections against higher electricity costs and limits on potentially abusive uses of AI infrastructure.

Kremer and senior adviser Kylie Jane Kremer said the group is not opposed to AI or technology outright but wants residents to have a meaningful role in development decisions. The tour also visited OpenAI, Google, Meta and Nvidia facilities, while the group highlighted announced data center investments by Google and Amazon in Missouri as examples of communities facing the influence of major technology companies. The activists’ concerns include data centers’ water and electricity demands, as well as broader risks associated with rapid AI development.
