St. Johns County elected officials approved a one-year moratorium banning large-scale data center development until Oct. 31, 2027. County officials plan to use the pause to evaluate how such facilities could affect local utilities and infrastructure.

St. Johns County is the third county in Northeast Florida to impose a data center moratorium, following Nassau and Clay counties. Flagler, Lake and Volusia counties have also adopted similar bans, amid reported bipartisan opposition to large-scale data centers.
