$93M proposed data center to bring 20 jobs to Prichard

Edged Energy, a data center company, is seeking approval to construct a new $93 million data center in Prichard, Alabama. The proposed facility, slated for Telegraph Road, is projected to create 20 new jobs and provide additional educational and economic benefits for the city. Prichard Mayor Carletta Davis voiced strong support for the project, stating that the city is "open for business" and expressing enthusiasm for Edged Energy choosing Prichard. She anticipates a productive partnership, with the company acting as a good corporate citizen. Garland Christopher, Edged U.S. Manager, emphasized the environmental advantages of the company's technology. He noted that their cooling system for data storage utilizes a closed-loop water system, which drastically reduces water consumption compared to other data centers. Christopher also assured that the facility is designed for minimal environmental impact, promising zero water usage once operational, no smoke pollution, and low noise pollution, with no expected increase in utility prices for residents.
