During the public hearing on the data center moratorium, residents voiced considerable dissatisfaction with the initial proposal for a 150-day pause on development. Many argued that this period was insufficient, questioning its effectiveness and advocating for a more substantial, possibly one-year, ban on data center construction.
Responding to public input and the debate, the city council voted to extend the proposed data center moratorium by 30 days, bringing the total duration to 180 days. This adjusted moratorium is slated for a second reading on September 14th, after which it is expected to be formally enacted.
