Data center developer providing $7 million to Okmulgee County schools
Data center developer Fluidstack and tenant Jane Street are providing $7 million to education institutions across Okmulgee County. The funding will support nine K-12 districts, Green Country Technology Center and OSU Institute of Technology as the county prepares for a planned data center and changing workforce needs.
Fluidstack and Jane Street will distribute $7 million among education institutions in Okmulgee County. Green Country Technology Center and OSU Institute of Technology will each receive $1 million, while the remaining $5 million will be divided among nine K-12 school districts based on student enrollment.
Preston Public Schools Superintendent Mark Hudson said the money could help cover expenses such as reading support, math tutors, school buses and electricity. Hudson welcomed the funding but expressed concern that students could become overly dependent on artificial intelligence, while Fluidstack said critical thinking and adaptability will be essential as technology changes and the planned data center brings new workforce demands.
