The St. Louis County Board recently approved joining a nationwide agreement concerning opioid settlement funds, which will allocate an additional $36,000 to the county for opioid remediation efforts.
Separately, commissioners engaged in discussions about updating the county’s Zoning Ordinance 62. The Board had previously voted to return the ordinance to the Planning Commission following resident concerns regarding two specific provisions, including one related to the classification of data centers.
An amended resolution is now scheduled for consideration at the May 5 meeting, to be held in the County Board Room at the St. Louis County Courthouse in Duluth. This amended resolution will remove changes pertaining to inoperable vehicles and will specifically direct the Planning Commission to develop a comprehensive Data Center Zoning Ordinance Amendment. This action aims to provide clearer guidelines on issues frequently brought to the Planning and Zoning Department.
