A significant waterline leak originating from a privately owned fire hydrant at a data center operated by Athlon BT in El Reno, Oklahoma, led to the loss of more than 3 million gallons of water. The incident also forced public schools in the area to close for two days while city crews worked to repair the damaged line.
During their investigation into the leak, El Reno city officials discovered several code violations at the Athlon BT facility, which manages data centers for AI networking, cloud computing, and Bitcoin mining. These violations reportedly included severe drainage issues and expired building permits. Athlon BT and El Reno officials have not yet responded to requests for comment regarding the findings.
