The company aims to establish at least one new large-scale data center, which would substantially boost its AI computing capacity. This expansion is poised to be comparable to or larger than its current hub in the Memphis area, which houses two data centers with approximately 1 gigawatt of compute capacity.
In preparation for this undertaking, SpaceX has been evaluating several potential sites across Texas, considering both the construction of new facilities and the retrofitting of existing warehouses. The company has already transferred some data center personnel to Texas to support the impending expansion. This strategic move aligns with SpaceX's recent efforts to monetize its AI infrastructure, highlighted by its AI computing agreements with Anthropic in May and Google in June.
