The project, which received congratulations from Governor Patrick Morrisey, involves Anthropic spending the substantial sum over six years to utilize computing capacity at N-Scale's flagship facility.
This agreement represents approximately 460 megawatts of computing capacity, with N-Scale deploying new technology to support growing AI computing requirements. The data center project was initially approved by West Virginia in 2023 and operates under a state-certified micro-grid framework. Fifty percent of the tax revenue generated through this system is dedicated to reducing and ultimately eliminating the state income tax.
Governor Morrisey stated that additional revenue will be directed to host counties, local communities, and infrastructure improvements, highlighting the economic benefits expected from the large-scale development.
