Ohio EPA seeks more information on proposed Google data center
Ohio environmental regulators have requested additional studies and revisions for Google's proposed Project Dazzler data center in Green Township, Scioto County. This follows extensive public comments raising concerns about flooding, wetlands, drinking water, and stormwater management. The project's permit applications remain under review by state and federal authorities.
The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has requested additional studies and project revisions for Google's proposed Project Dazzler data center in Green Township, Scioto County, Ohio. This action was taken after the agency received numerous public comments highlighting concerns about potential flooding, wetlands destruction, impacts on drinking water, and stormwater management issues.
The proposed $1 billion data center, developed by Google-affiliated entity Tilted Gate LLC, is planned for a 792-acre site east of the Ohio River. Correspondence regarding permit applications was sent by the Ohio EPA on May 28 and 29 to Google representative Randy Barrera. The project's applications are currently under review by both state and federal regulatory bodies.
Public opposition to the project is evident, as dozens of Scioto County residents attended a public meeting on January 15, 2026, to address questions about the data center with Scioto County commissioners.
