Riley County plans to explore pros, cons of data centers during moratorium

The Riley County Commission, following its enactment of a six-month moratorium on data center and battery energy storage system projects last month, convened on Monday to discuss the next steps. Planning director Amanda Webb presented possibilities for information gathering during this temporary restriction period, focusing primarily on data centers. Webb emphasized the goal of understanding the nature and potential impacts of these projects, as well as the considerations necessary should the county decide to permit them in the future.
