Evanston Councilmember Krissie Harris has proposed a one-year pause on data center zoning approvals and city incentives, pending infrastructure and grid audits. The proposal follows resident opposition to a possible small data center at 1265 Hartrey Ave. and has secured four co-sponsors, giving it majority support on the nine-member City Council.

The measure is scheduled to go before the Evanston City Council Referrals Committee on Oct. 12. The newsletter also notes that Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker is urging lawmakers to adopt statewide data center regulations as communities across the state consider their own moratoriums.
