Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sent letters to 156 data center developments across the state demanding accurate, up-to-date water-use information. The letters are part of an investigation into facilities that may not have responded to a Texas Water Development Board survey and seek to ensure compliance with state law.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton sent letters to 156 data center developments in 31 Texas counties as part of an investigation into water usage and legal compliance. The facilities include developments that allegedly failed to respond to a Texas Water Development Board survey concerning water use.
Paxton said his office is working to protect Texas communities and natural resources as data center construction expands across the state. The Attorney General’s Office said it will examine whether data center operations impose unlawful burdens on taxpayers or threaten critical water resources.
