Artificial Intelligence freeze walkouts hit Denver, Golden, and Fort Collins as part of nationwide protests
Demonstrators in Denver, Golden and Fort Collins joined nationwide AI walkouts calling for a statewide moratorium on artificial intelligence until regulations are established. Organizers also demanded stronger guardrails for data center development, citing climate, employment and community concerns.
Protesters in Denver, Golden and Fort Collins participated in a nationwide campaign calling for a freeze on artificial intelligence development until the public can help shape regulations governing the technology. The Golden demonstration was held at the Colorado School of Mines, while the Denver rally took place outside the Colorado Public Utilities Commission.
Organizers Genevieve Morrison and John Henry Williams said AI raises concerns about climate justice, employment and the social impact of unchecked adoption. Williams urged state and local officials to impose a statewide moratorium on AI and establish guardrails for data centers entering Colorado communities.
