After months of public hearings, debate and over 100 public comments, the Franklin County Commissioners unanimously approved new regulations governing future data center development across the county. The amendment to the county's Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO) establishes standards for data center projects in municipalities that do not have zoning regulations in place. County officials said the ordinance is intended to provide a framework for development while allowing room for future revisions as the industry evolves. Commissioner John Flannery acknowledged the lengthy process leading up to the vote and thanked residents for their involvement. “I respect the process we went through, even though it seemed long and tedious at times,” Flannery said.
