A new coalition launches in response to Data Center development

The Michigan for Responsible Data Centers coalition has been established to provide communities and decision-makers in Michigan with accurate information regarding data center development. The coalition aims to foster economic growth and position Michigan as a hub for advanced industries, while concurrently safeguarding the state's electric grid and natural resources through environmental stewardship. Emphasizing the need for developers to adhere to clear and enforceable standards, the coalition believes that "smart investment with responsible, transparent planning and community engagement" will enable Michigan to lead in the digital economy. This initiative comes as Michigan, like other states, is experiencing an increase in data center proposals, prompting community discussions on critical issues such as energy demand, water usage, and environmental impacts.
