Nacogdoches County flagged in state investigation of data center water use
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton ordered 156 data center developments, including sites in Nacogdoches County, to submit accurate water-use data. The investigation targets developments that did not respond to the Texas Water Development Board’s survey of groundwater and surface-water users.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office has ordered 156 data center developments across Texas to provide accurate water-use information after an investigation into compliance with state reporting requirements. Nacogdoches County was among 32 counties identified in the Oct. 15 announcement, although no individual projects were named.
The inquiry began in September after the Texas Water Development Board’s survey received incomplete responses from some developments. Paxton said the investigation is intended to ensure data centers comply with the law and that Texas protects its water and energy resources as the industry expands.
