Estimates show new Google data center will need millions of gallons of water each day

A new Google data center coming to Roanoke, Virginia will require around 2 million gallons of water per day to cool the facility, with the potential to use up to 8 million gallons per day once fully operational. The Western Virginia Water Authority will serve as the primary water source, and Google will cover the costs to connect the infrastructure to the data center.
