The Laramie County Planning Commission has voted unanimously to advance a zone change proposal for Vantage Data Centers' Project Latigo. This major data center development is planned for an 1,800-acre site in south Laramie County, near Cheyenne, Wyoming. Vantage Data Centers, a Denver-based company, projects an initial investment of $4 billion, potentially growing to $20 billion, and creating approximately 2,000 skilled jobs.
Matt Clark, Senior Government Affairs Manager for Vantage, presented the project to the commission, outlining plans for construction to begin in 2027 with phase one completion by 2030. The initial phase includes four computing buildings and on-site power generation, with a portion of the site temporarily used for workforce housing.
The proposed zone change seeks to convert the currently undeveloped Land Use zoned property to Planned Unit Development zoning, which is necessary for the data center campus. Unlike other recent data center project approvals in the region, there was no public opposition or comment received during the Planning Commission meeting. The proposal will now proceed to the Laramie County Board of Commissioners for final approval.
