Will County Board member Destinee Ortiz said her proposal for a temporary moratorium on data center development will be placed on the November 12 Executive Committee agenda after receiving written confirmation from County Board Speaker Joe VanDuyne. The measure would begin the process of pausing additional data center development while the county evaluates potential community impacts and considers safeguards.

Ortiz urged residents to attend the meeting, submit public comments and contact County Board members in support of advancing the proposal to the full board. The moratorium remains under consideration and has not been adopted.
