North Lebanon Township advertises data center ordinance
North Lebanon Township supervisors unanimously agreed to advertise a proposed ordinance regulating data centers. The ordinance would limit data centers to industrial-zoned land and impose requirements including water feasibility and drought plans, buffers, height limits, and sound and vibration studies before a scheduled adoption vote.
North Lebanon Township supervisors in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania, voted unanimously to advertise a proposed 34-page data center ordinance. Solicitor Amy Leonard said the draft was modeled on ordinances adopted by other municipalities and revised following comments from the township planning commission.
The proposed rules would restrict data centers to industrial zoning and establish requirements for lot size, building height, landscaping and screening, noise and vibration, water feasibility, and drought response. The supervisors were scheduled to consider adoption at their Nov. 16 meeting, as local officials respond to concerns about utility impacts, noise, vibration, and pollution tied to growing data center demand.
