The Dauphin Highlands Golf Course will officially be closing on October 12 to make way for a new data center. This comes after the Dauphin County General Authority (DCGA) finalized a settlement agreement with Provident Realty. The Texas-based company had originally agreed to purchase the 228-acre property for $45.6 million.
"It’s just a crying shame this beautiful land is going to computers," Dauphin Highlands member Gary Miller told FOX43.
Golfers expressed their frustration over the announcement, with many saying the decision to sell the golf course was made without consideration of the environment or surrounding community.
"Obviously, there wasn't a whole lot of thought [put into it]. It's all about the money, that's what this is about," Golfer Bob LaVia said.
