Florida governor candidates make final push as voters head to the polls
Democratic Florida gubernatorial candidate David Jolly said during a campaign stop in Haines City that he would enact a moratorium on data centers if elected. Republican candidate Byron Donalds focused on broader conservative priorities as both candidates made their final appeals to voters.
Florida gubernatorial candidates David Jolly and Byron Donalds made final campaign stops in Polk County before Election Day. Jolly, speaking in Haines City, highlighted housing, healthcare, education and his intention to impose a moratorium on data centers, while also pledging to preserve Florida’s natural environment.
Donalds, campaigning in Lakeland, emphasized continuity with Gov. Ron DeSantis’ conservative leadership, along with lower insurance costs, property taxes and protections for parental rights. The race was described as a pivotal contest that could end nearly three decades of Republican control of the governor’s mansion or produce Florida’s first Black governor if Donalds wins.
