Bulloch County Data Center Committee holds first meeting
The Bulloch County Data Center Committee held its first meeting in Statesboro to review a draft ordinance and provide technical and environmental recommendations. Members also expressed interest in extending the county's existing data center moratorium, which is scheduled to expire at the end of the year.
The 15-member Bulloch County Data Center Committee met for the first time at the North Main Annex in downtown Statesboro, with 14 members attending. The committee established operating rules, elected Frank Davis as chairman and Glenn Wulmarc as vice chairman, and received its mandate from Bulloch County Board of Commissioners Chairman David Bennett.
The committee is tasked with reviewing the county's draft data center ordinance and offering technical and environmental recommendations. Members also supported considering an extension of the current moratorium on data center projects until a complete set of rules is in place. The committee plans to meet on the first and third Monday of each month, with its next meeting scheduled for Nov. 2.
