A community presentation in Marquette provided information about data centers, including their operations, economic impacts and presence in Michigan. Some attendees said the discussion did not adequately address environmental concerns such as noise, water use and energy impacts, while organizers said the goal was to provide factual information before any projects are considered.

The Lake Superior Community Partnership and Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance hosted an informational data center presentation at the Peter White Public Library in Marquette. Speakers discussed how data centers operate, their different types, their economic effects and the number of facilities in Michigan, followed by questions from residents.

Dakota Baker of the Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance said the event was intended to give community leaders and residents reliable information. Lucy Miller, a Northern Michigan University professor, said environmental issues—including noise pollution, water use and energy concerns—needed more detailed treatment. Organizers said there are no known current plans for a data center in Michigan's Upper Peninsula.
