Gallatin City Council in Sumner County, Tennessee, has approved the annexation of land located near State Route 31E and Bright's Lane. This parcel is situated close to an existing Meta data center, prompting speculation about future development in the area.

Councilman Pascal Jouvence took to social media to state that the newly annexed land "looks perfect to extend for a new Data Center." He also highlighted that rezoning discussions for the property were already underway before the annexation vote, a factor he believes makes the site particularly attractive for data center expansion. The annexation process transfers land from unincorporated Sumner County into Gallatin city limits.

It is important to note that the annexation does not automatically approve a data center project; any such development would still require additional city review and multiple votes. Gallatin's mayor commented that the timing of the annexation vote coinciding with rezoning discussions is not unusual, and as of now, there are no public plans for a data center on the annexed site.
