The collective, comprised of women, fems, and queer folks, had been organizing since April with unwavering demands to stop the development. This success was achieved despite continuous and notorious corruption within the City of Coachella and the city's perceived deliberate gaslighting of community concerns. Ash emphasized that the victory was solely due to the unified efforts of the community and not political figures or a change of heart from the city.
