Prichard mulls data center moratorium
The Prichard City Council is considering enacting a moratorium on data center development next week due to significant public concern. This comes after Edged Energy announced plans in April to build a $90 million data center in the city.
The Prichard City Council is contemplating a moratorium on data center development, with a potential vote scheduled for next week. This action follows recent weeks of public hearings where numerous concerned citizens voiced opposition to a proposed data center project.
Edged Energy, a data center company, had previously announced its intentions in April to construct a $90 million data center at 214 Telegraph Road in Prichard. The potential moratorium aims to temporarily halt such developments amidst community pushback.
