Doña Ana Community College (DACC) in Las Cruces, New Mexico, has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the Gene Haas Foundation. This funding is earmarked for scholarships supporting students pursuing careers in manufacturing and computer numerical control (CNC) programs within DACC’s Architecture & Construction Technology Program. Laura De La Cruz, dean of DACC’s Advanced Technologies Division, highlighted that the investment reinforces the foundation's confidence in their programs and their commitment to preparing students for skilled manufacturing roles, while also aiding regional workforce development over the next two years.

The Gene Haas Foundation, established in 1999, has expanded its focus from Ventura County, California, to provide scholarship grants to community colleges offering manufacturing and CNC training nationwide.

Separately, the New Mexico Environment Department is scheduled to conduct a hearing concerning the air quality permit for the proposed Project Jupiter data center. This hearing follows considerable public interest and allegations that names of residents and elected officials were used without permission to submit supportive comments for the project.
