QTS announced a $250 million investment over 10 years for water infrastructure improvements and conservation in Texas communities. This includes funding a new water tower for Turkey and assisting with upgrades to the city's water system, which recently experienced a critical failure.
QTS, a data center company, and Lancium, a land developer, have entered into an agreement with Hall County, Texas, to construct a $10 billion, 465-acre, 11-building data center campus. The project is breaking ground five miles south of the town of Turkey, Texas.
The development comes as the town of Turkey faces significant water infrastructure challenges, with its main water tower recently breaking down after years of repairs. A majority of the town is under a boil water notice, and some residents are without water completely. Upgrading the city's water system is estimated to cost millions, a substantial sum for Turkey's $500,000 yearly budget.
In response to these local needs and as part of its broader commitment to Texas communities, QTS announced a $250 million investment over the next decade. This funding will target improvements in water infrastructure, conservation, water replenishment, and water-free cooling technology. A key component of this investment includes providing a brand new water tower for Turkey and assisting with upgrades to the city’s overall water system. The new data center campus is expected to bring 350 new employees to Hall County, potentially doubling Turkey's population.
