In a significant transaction, approximately 96 landowners in Salem Township, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, have collectively sold 1,700 acres of land for $500 million. This acquisition by an unnamed developer is set to pave the way for the construction of what will be the largest data center campus in northeastern Pennsylvania. The land parcels, totaling over 2.5 square miles, were assembled with the assistance of local company 43 Consulting and are strategically located around the Susquehanna Steam Electric Station, commonly known as the nuclear power plant near Berwick. This new development is noted to be substantially larger than a previously planned Amazon data center project already slated for a site near the power plant.
