Jasper County pauses new data centers with one-year moratorium

The Jasper County Council has unanimously enacted a one-year moratorium on new data centers, data-processing facilities, and cryptocurrency mining operations.
During this temporary halt, county staff will focus on developing comprehensive new regulations for these facilities. This includes determining appropriate locations for construction within the county's commercial and industrial zoning districts, as well as conducting studies on their potential impact on local water, power infrastructure, and general infrastructure.
