Two New York companies, led by Cornell Realty Management LLC, have acquired nearly 500 acres in Archbald, Lackawanna County, for the proposed Wildcat Ridge Data Center Campus. This project, which plans for 14 data centers, faces scrutiny over its substantial water and electricity demands and is currently pending approval from the Archbald Borough Council.

Brooklyn-based Cornell Realty Management LLC, through affiliated entities Pine Hill Dream Inc. and Archbald Pines LLC, has secured approximately 495 acres for the Wildcat Ridge Data Center Campus in Archbald, Lackawanna County. The land acquisitions, totaling over $7 million, were recorded with the Lackawanna County Recorder of Deeds in March. The proposed campus, which would be the largest in the borough, plans for 14 two-story data centers, along with additional commercial space including a grocery store. This project, among several others proposed in Lackawanna County, has drawn significant attention due to its projected daily water usage of over 3.3 million gallons and electricity demand of 1.6 gigawatts, which exceeds the output of the nearby Lackawanna Energy Center power plant. Plans also include 574 backup diesel generators and new substations. Isaac Hager, managing partner of Cornell Realty Management, is a key figure in the development. The Archbald Borough Council has not yet approved the project and is scheduled to hold its third public hearing on the matter in April. The acquired land was previously earmarked for a large residential and commercial development, similar in footprint to the data center campus.
