Sedgwick County residents are invited to a public meeting to provide feedback on potential data center regulations. This comes as a county-wide moratorium on data centers is set to expire on June 11. Sedgwick County is hosting a public meeting for residents to offer feedback on forthcoming data center regulations. The event, scheduled for Tuesday evening at the Sedgwick County Extension Center, will feature "information stations" where community members can share their views on various aspects, including the county's zoning code, state regulations, economic impacts, and concerns related to energy, water, and air quality. The insights gathered will be instrumental in formulating potential modifications to these documents. The initiative comes as a current moratorium on data center development in Sedgwick County is slated to end on June 11. This moratorium was initially implemented to allow the county sufficient time to develop comprehensive policies and regulations for data centers, incorporating community input. Planning Department staff will also deliver a presentation on the data center planning process during the meeting, which begins with doors opening at 4:30 p.m. and the presentation set for 6 p.m.
