Q&A – About Project Tango & Indiantown Data Center Proposals Part 2

Data centers are being proposed in western communities of Palm Beach and Martin Counties, Florida, to meet the growing demand for AI storage. The Project Tango proposal in western Palm Beach County and the Silver Fox proposal in Indiantown, Martin County, are similar in aiming to build large-scale AI data centers with access to power and water resources. The Silver Fox proposal is the largest such project proposed in the region, covering 606 acres, with concerns from residents over energy costs, environmental impacts, and disturbance of wetlands. Unlike Project Tango, the land for Silver Fox was only recently purchased, and the project is still under review by local officials. Data center development is likely to continue in Florida due to its geographical advantages and business climate, but the author believes future data centers should focus on more efficient photonics technology rather than traditional designs.
