Hill County, Texas enacts temporary data center ban

Hill County, Texas, located just north of Waco, has enacted a temporary ban on data centers. The Hill County commissioner's courthouse voted to implement the moratorium after several hours of public comment from local residents.

Dozens of neighbors attended the meeting to voice their concerns to the commissioners. These concerns included potential elemental contamination, noise pollution, light pollution, and industrial waste associated with data center operations. Some residents also worried about the long-term economic impact on the county if data centers were to cease operations and proper paperwork was not in order, suggesting it could be detrimental to the area.
