Dallas-based CyrusOne is set to construct its sixth San Antonio-area data center, a $500 million facility in Castroville, Medina County, Texas. The one-story, 460,000-square-foot building at 3397 U.S. 90 West is projected to be completed by June 2027, according to filings with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

CyrusOne, which owns at least 244 acres in Medina County and already operates multiple data centers in the region, declined to comment on the project. The company previously faced community opposition for a proposed data center on ranchland in Hays County, near San Marcos.

Medina County is rapidly becoming a data center hub, attracting major tech firms. Microsoft, for example, has acquired over 1,000 acres and is currently undertaking multiple data center construction projects in the county, including facilities at 18844 FM 1957 (valued at $712.6 million), a $400 million center at 3580 FM 471 North, and additional buildings along County Road 381. West Bexar and Medina counties are favored locations due to their access to power, fiber infrastructure, and flat topography.
