Big Beaver residents attend another meeting to oppose data center being built at former racetrack

Residents of Big Beaver and Beaver County are vocally opposing plans for a new data center to be built by Switch at the former Pit Racetrack. Dozens of community members packed a recent meeting of the Beaver County Planning Commission to express their discontent with the proposed development.
Neighbors voiced significant concerns regarding the potential impact of the data center, including excessive water usage, increased noise pollution, and a rise in local traffic. Furthermore, residents highlighted anxieties about possible structural issues related to old, closed mines located beneath the proposed construction site. One resident emphasized the need to prioritize community safety, stating, "Our residents need to come first in this. We got wells. We got all that mining up there... I just want to know what we're doing to protect us."
The local council has indicated that it requires further environmental studies and potential changes to the project proposal before a vote will be held on the data center's approval.
