More than a dozen residents attended a Jersey County Board meeting to oppose plans for an 18-megawatt data center proposed on seven acres along Van Horne Lane, just south of Jerseyville. The property is in an unincorporated part of the county.

County officials have discussed zoning the land so the county would have more say over future development. District 3 board member Jeremy Beasley said he does not support zoning, while Board Chairman Mark Wagner previously said no large-scale facilities were currently under construction or otherwise in the works in the county.
