Nine buildings. 747 acres. Enough electricity for a small city — many times over.
Tombstone Resources has filed an application for a 747-acre AI computing campus near Apache Station in Cochise County, Arizona. The proposed project could include nine buildings, require up to 6 gigawatts of electricity, create about 1,000 permanent jobs and involve $3.6 billion in grid upgrades while seeking zoning exceptions.
Tombstone Resources is proposing a large AI computing campus near Apache Station outside Tombstone, Arizona. The plan calls for as many as nine buildings totaling about 4.4 million square feet on 747 acres, with projected employment of roughly 1,000 permanent workers and up to 5,500 construction workers.
The applicant estimates the campus could require as much as 6 gigawatts of electricity and generate $34 million to $103 million in annual property tax revenue. Tombstone Resources also proposes dry cooling, with annual water use estimated at 7 to 10 acre-feet, and approximately $3.6 billion in grid improvements. The application seeks zoning exceptions for taller buildings, increased site coverage and round-the-clock construction, with public review scheduled to begin in November.
