The Louisa County Board of Supervisors is scheduled to meet tonight to hold a public hearing on a proposed 18-month moratorium on new data centers within the county. Following the discussion during the public hearing, the Board will consider the possible approval of a first reading of Ordinance 26-1 regarding this moratorium. There is also a possibility of waiving the second and third readings to expedite its enactment.

The Supervisors decided to set the public hearing after previous discussions about the rapid development of data centers in nearby counties like Des Moines and Lee. The proposed moratorium aims to temporarily halt any new data center construction in Louisa County.

The meeting, which will also address unrelated items such as a roof proposal for the Louisa County Jail and an easement resolution, is set to take place at 6 p.m. at 503 Franklin Street in Wapello.
